GECX Demo's still running on the Joint Line.
Author: SP8595

BNSF continues to use the GECX Demonstrator engines, classified as ET44C4 (I think:}) on coal trains running from mines in the Powder River Basin down to power plants in Texas.

Early this morning, a pair of the big blue engines were heading down the Joint Line, South out of Denver on loaded coal train C NAMMLT0 92. The addition of BNSF engines, both EMD SD70ACe's adding some color to the front and rear power consists from the plain looking GE's!

1)Just after Sunrise, the Conductor walks back to the lead engine after checking on a loading issue with the BNSF 8791 as the train approaches Larkspur. The GECX 2041 leading the train sure could use a cleaning!

2)Pulling the grade South out of Larkspur on Main #1.

3)The rear DPU's, GECX 2043 and BNSF 9385 shoving on the rear.

4)From a secret "pine spot", the train is now heading downhill after cresting the grade at Palmer Lake.

5)From a not so secret spot South of Monument.

6)Another view of the rear DPU's.

After getting these "plain Jane" engines, someday maybe catching that new EMD Demo sure would spice things up:}

Very nice bunch. Love the "secret Pine shot". Never even noticed the large number on the rear radiator? Here it is approaching the North Siding Switch Monument between your "Pine shot" and the last two. Thanks as always for the heads up. A very nice morning in the neighborhood. I for one am VERY glad winter is taking it's time.

Nice shots, John! I agree the EMD Tier 4 demos would add some variety and color to the Joint Line.

Great photos! You can tell they are getting a lot of used just based on how dirty they are getting. :)
