UP Tier 4 at Last Light
Author: TheNavigator

UP Tier 4 2575 was in the lead of today's Roseville-to-West Colton train as it descended Cajon Pass very late this afternoon.  Due to other commitments I was unable to shoot it further north up the hill, but the opportunity to capture my first shots of a UP Tier 4 made the short drive from home worthwhile.  I believe this might be the first train with a UP Tier 4 leading into SoCal.

This location just south of Dike isn't the greatest, but it's one of the few accessible spots with no obstructions or shadows so late in the afternoon this time of year.  Thanks go to RSD5 for the position report and a fellow TO'er for the heads up.

Thanks for looking,
GK

1.  2575 & Co. approaching the overpass at Institution Road.

2.  A rolling roster shot, of sorts.

Good job Gary. I mentioned to RSD5 that would be the one of the few places in the last light of the day that would be any good.

I bet RSD5 was thinking the same - I've been near that spot with him to catch a shiny GEVO (non-Tier 4) about a year ago.

Sweet shot of a sweet unit.

I had that unit on the point out of Eugene a few days ago before you caught that pic of it.  It done good up the Cascades.
