Oh shoot.  I thought when I saw this headline that there was going to be a train run over TP soon. 

I can't find the photo right now, but see 10/03/14 post by jc76, bottom correction; see 12/31/13 post by myself; see 11/14/09 post by myself, or search keywords "Red Hill Tunnel Tennessee Pass". The last train was kind of humdrum as you will see, it occurred 8-23-97. === === = === JLH

Out of curiosity, is there a photograph of the last train out of the previous Tennessee
Pass tunnel?  This would be the one that the current tunnel replaced during WWII, and
caused the huge highway sinkhole when a portion of the interior collapsed a few years
ago.

Looks like the Crew (or somebody...) even knew what was happening..
(Note front, right side of engine.)
And I like the "SOS" on the plow...  "Help!  Save Tennesee Pass!!!"

it was planned and announced before hand just like Burnham's pending demise.

As I recall, there were 4 or 5 other fans around, but nobody else made it to this spot, they shot from a distance off the highway and across the river, and likely were not happy I was already set up there with the stepladder. But I had to leave a bunch of other locations they probably got just  to get here, which required leaving the train behind at a certain location to be able to speed ahead and backtrack a couple of miles into this location at Red Hill Tunnel. === === = === JLH
