Western Railroad Discussion > Kansas City RailfanningDate: 11/24/15 06:19 Kansas City Railfanning Author: Ohiorailfan Im not sure when the dates will be, but sometime early next year I will be going to Kansas City for vacation. I know there is Santa Fe Junction and the Bottoms. How is traffic and variety at these two places? I plan on spending a couple days around these 2 spots.
Thanks Posted from Android Date: 11/24/15 06:42 Re: Kansas City Railfanning Author: sp8192 Just do a quick search and you will find TONS of posts bout KC railfanning on here... KC in a nutshell, there are trains everywhere. And its not hard to find them. And there are lots of safe locations to watch.

Myself, UPTRAIN, sp8192, KCCharlie, Dalton and others can help you for sure. In a nutshell, it's a whole lot easier to chase trains here than in some other larger cities, so once you get a train, you can usually nab it in two-three other locations pretty easily. If sitting in one place is your game, cool, but if you're ready to be mobile, the rewards can be pretty awesome. When I've got more time, I'll get a better answer to you. - Jeff Carlson - Jeff Carlson Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/24/15 07:12 by bnsfsd70. Date: 11/24/15 13:01 Re: Kansas City Railfanning Author: mapboy Be sure to have a meal at Jack Stack BBQ across the tracks from Union Station. Tasty food with a great view! Not that far from Santa Fe Jct. for a break.

Date: 11/25/15 13:58 Re: Kansas City Railfanning Author: SD70M I always enjoy visiting KC. Probably more variety than Pine Junction, and definitely safer. Can't really go wrong, as mentioned above, Santa Fe Junction and the West bottoms are easily accessible. Mid America railcar, and nearby Knoche yard are easily viewable , and so too are parts of Argentine yard, from legal locations. Check out the KCrailfan website.
