Union Pacific 2016 Calenders
Author: HardYellow

As of 2016, no more Union Pacific Calenders sent to retired SP/UP Employees. I guess times are bad.

I retired in May after 39 years and was sooooooooo looking forward to the calendar !!!!   Right after I left  the stock dropped and car loadings went south too. Maybe they need my consulting help to boost good old UP.  We can start negotiations with a calendar.
Happy Thanksgiving  !

When are they going to axe the steam program?

C-A-L-E-N-D-A-R-S can still be ordered at the UP Employee Store for a paltry $8 each.

Union Pacific shareholders (of which I am one) don't automatically get a calendar when they first purchase shares, because quite frankly most don't want/need/care for a calendar.  However, if you are a shareholder, go can simply go to the Union Pacific website under Investors and sign up for a free calendar.  Once you are on the list, you should get one every year from that point one.  You only have to ask once to get them every year.

As far as retirees are considered, I think that retirees should get a free calendar, but the logistics of it must be terrible.  FIrst, retirees have no official connection with UP anymore, thus when they change address, I doubt they inform UP they did so (I can hear some retiree say "I don't need to tell them anything, I don't work for them no more).  Second, when a retiree passes on, informing Union Pacific to stop sending calendars probably is the last thing on the minds of their relatives.  I also doubt that the Railroad Retirement Board is/would share address changes and deaths with UP since it really isn't their business.  So take those two things and add it to the calendars that simply aren't wanted and you have a lot of wasted calendars and wasted money going out.  Sounds like UP finally had enough.

Most individuals have their shares in a "street name" so companies don't know them. UP will put you on the mailing list as stated above.

Hard Yellow, that explains why I haven't received one either.  Got one for the last 14 years since I retired but not this time.  Oh well, it will give me a chance to put up some more interesting calendars in my model train room.  If I have to pay, I will buy a better looking one than UP sends.

The UP knows where to send the Harriman checks and they know when to stop the Harriman checks.

I was given one and I think the 2016 UP calendar photos are much better than two competing commercial calendars.  Just my opinion.

They probably moved that money into a special account
to pay for the lawsuit settlement against the steam manager.
