Various Geeps in Central Texas

1) UP GP60 #1966 rests between assignments in Smithville, Texas on April 11, 2015. 1966 was built in 1989 as SSW #9664. It was repainted in UP colors in the early 2000s.

2) UP GP38-2 #537, still in the increasingly rare 'We Will Deliver' livery rests at Flatonia, Texas on April 11, 2015. 537 was delivered new to the UP in 1974 as #2031. It was renumbered to it's current number in order to make room for SD60 renumberings. 

3) HLCX GP38-2 #1805 was the other loco on the local that day.

4) UP GP38-2 #588 rests in Smithville, Texas yard with two other geeps on April 11, 2015. 588 was built in 1980 for the Southern Pacific in 1980 as their #4825. It retained its SP livery until 2008, when it was dipped in yellow. It retains its trademark L-shaped windshield.

5) UP GP40-2 #1470 rests in Smithville, Texas on April 11, 2015. 1470 was built in 1979 for the SSW as their #7655. 7655 remained unpatched in its original SSW colors until 2012, when it finally succumbed to the same fate as 588.

Those HLCX units are like fire ants; they're everywhere in Texas!

That is true - I can't go railfanning without seeing at least one!
