Norfolk Southern leader on the Moffat
Author: SP8595

Well to somewhat start where "ColoradoRailfan" left off, http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,3957012 when Kevin alerted me (Thanks a ton BTW!) that they were adding a Norfolk Southern engine to the point of the broken down BNSF train at Rocky, I dropped everything and hightailed it across Denver as quick as I could.
The train started to move faster than I had hoped and had a pretty good jump on me but I figured that I could at least beat it to Pinecliffe.

1)With about 10 minutes to spare, I found a "tree spot" to get my first shot of the Denver to Provo manifest at the East switch at Pinecliffe with the NS 8083 leading.

2)At Rollinsville, I got hit with some rogue cloud that was traveling from East to West, opposite of the way that the clouds usually travel and only got a little Sun on the train with a tele shot.

3)Passing through Tolland.

4)At East Portal and about ready to head into the Moffat Tunnel.

I knew that an empty Salt train was following behind the BNSF train so I tried to do a little hiking behind the Tunnel portal but it soon became apparent when I left the trail and fell waist deep into the snow, that I was not prepared for this type of adventure. I didn't even have any gloves:}

5)I did find another nice conifer to climb and came away with this shot of Union Pacific "notch nose" SD70m 5200 leading the RRLNE at E. Portal with South Boulder Creek in the foreground.

Thanks for looking and a Big Thank you once again Kevin!

Awesome man!! That first shot from the tree at Cliff is fantastic. Never seen that angle there before. Very well done. Glad I could be of service. :)

Nice ones all.  #2 has great color and the cloudy area adds a lot of depth to the photo.
