Western Railroad Discussion > Burnham funeral trainsDate: 02/08/16 20:10 Burnham funeral trains Author: eatontm There's been a steady flow of units bound for storage on Moffat Line as UP cleans house at the former Denver & Rio Grande Western's main shop at Burnham, aka Denver Diesel. The shops are officially supposed to close within the week. Adding to the already 100+ units stored at Grand Junction, CO, a couple hundred more have been headed that way over the past 2 months, as extra units in most days MNYRO trains, as well as dedicated power moves of 15-20 units.
~ MNYRO 06 Radium, CO. And the lifeblood of the D&RGW for so long, a coal train held the siding for the meet. Its been hard to watch a line that used to host 10+ coal moves per day dwindle to 2 or 3 per week. Tough times on the ol D&RGW. ~ CEYVL 05 departing Radium, CO. 2.6.16 T Edited 1 time(s). JB Date: 02/09/16 05:44 Re: Burnham funeral trains Author: Cajon92 It is sad to see our business levels down so, will just take that much longer to get back to work :-(
However, three excellent photos! Love that third image. Thanks for sharing, ~Ryan Date: 02/09/16 06:23 Re: Burnham funeral trains Author: SP8595 Colorful consist, sad story behind it:{
That third shot is Great, you don't see many shots from Radium! Date: 02/09/16 06:25 Re: Burnham funeral trains Author: ColoradoRailfan Great shots. I agree that the third shot is reall wonderful. Most people (myself included, I must admit) tend to drive right by the turnoff to Radium in order to get to State Bridge or Inspiration Point.

Date: 02/10/16 14:37 Re: Burnham funeral trains Author: MILW16 I noticed a whole line of stored UP locomotives on the "old line" near Mescal, Arizona last week (west of Benson). Had to be 50 if not 100. Hard to tell driving by on I-10.
