Western Railroad Discussion > Training on the Transcon

My wife allowed me to drive along the BNSF Transcon from Flagstaff to Kingman, AZ in September 2004.  While kept on a short leash and bedeviled by rain in the desert, I caught a few "keepers".  Here are six pictures, selected as I looked over the file from the 2004 trip in preparation for a May railfan journey to the Kingman end of this stretch of railroad.

I really enjoy the scenery and topoigraphy in the Flagstaff area.  The evergreens and rocky outcrops are a delightful combination.

1.  An eastbound intermodal chases the rainbow east of Flagstaff.
2. A westbound manifest in the same area.
3. Another westbound with an interesting lashup leading "baretables".
