It is 75 mph between Jefferson City and St Louis. I agree that the entire line from KCY to STL be 79 mph. These odd lspeed limits go back to a lawsuit between Amtrak and the Missouri Pacific for limiting passenger trains to 60 mph on this route. As a result of this suit, the MOP agreed to raise speed limits to 15 mph above freight train limits. So KCY to JEF on (Sedalia sub) has a frt limit of 55, henc 70 mph psgr. JEF to STL is 60 mph frt 75 psgr. I have heard rumors that eventually it will be 79. but no idea when that might take effect. Sneebly Date: 04/28/16 07:33 Re: UP Passenger Train at 70 MPH Author: The_Chief_Way It used to be 79, didn't it, until the MoP slowed it down prior to Amtrak, I think.
