Intermodal train overtakes BNSF Boeing train
Author: JoCoLB

While doing some train watching on the BNSF Railway's Emporia Sub. at Gardner, Kan., on Saturday, I happened to catch an intermodal train overtaking a stopped Boeing fuselage train.

The eastbound Boeing train, with only one fuselage and an idler car, was caught by a red signal on Main Two at 12:40 p.m. About 4 minutes later, an eastbound intermodal exited the nearby Logistics Park Kansas City intermodal center on Main Three and was given a high green to proceed to Kansas City in front of the Boeing shipment.

The Boeing train wasn't delayed too long. The high/wide load train departed town at 12:54 p.m.

Two more photos of the intermodal train as it was overtaking the high/wide Boeing shipment.

Is this 'grass' unit BNSF's designated Seattle loco?  ;-)

Well Larry, have you had any time to eat? You have done a great job all over Kansas these last days! Thank you. wag216

Any Boeing spotters that can tell if that is a -700, -800, or -900?  I should know, but have been retired for 4 years, missing a lot of the 'NG' models.

Two emergency exits...probably an 800 or 900. I flew the 700 and it just didn't seem that long...but then again, I "graduated" in 2003.

Actually, I checked some photos, and the 700ER has one exit so 800 and 900 have 2.

Lot of good memories if I could remember them!

They should sell tickets on these movements. It would probably arrive faster than my last flight.

As a 737 driver, I can tell you that is an -800. The -900 also has 2 overwing exits, and another aft of the wing, in front of the tail. Great pics!!
