Western Railroad Discussion > Around Cowtown on Sunday EveningDate: 05/03/16 09:27 Around Cowtown on Sunday Evening Author: BNSFDS This past Sunday evening, I had the opportunity to go searching for a few trains with KB5WK and DS Homer. We only caught three trains but considering it was a spur of the moment outing we did pretty well.
We noticed an intermodal train headed west out the Wichita Falls Sub. We headed up to a location just west of the siding at Avondale to shoot the train. 1 and 2. BNSF train Q-ALTSBD6-01A accelerates out of the siding after meeting 2 eastbounds at Avondale, Texas. Date: 05/03/16 09:29 Re: Around Cowtown on Sunday Evening Author: BNSFDS We caught another westbounder, this time an empty coal train, leaving Saginaw.
4. BNSF train E-SLPEBM0-18A heads west out of Saginaw, Texas. 5. DPU BNSF 9220 pushes on the rear of train E-SLPEBM0-18A as it departs Saginaw, Texas. Date: 05/03/16 09:32 Re: Around Cowtown on Sunday Evening Author: BNSFDS We heard on the scanner that a northbound train was having problems down by Tower 55. Turns out this train was led by a Ferromex ES44AC. We found a spot across from the former Cotton Belt freight depot to shoot the train once the crew changed out a knuckle.
5 and 6. BNSf train V-EAPBLU1-29A led by Ferromex 4668 leaves downtown Fort Worth, Texas. After the vehicle train cleared, we headed to a local pizza joint to meet the wives for dinner, ending our railfan outing. Enjoy BNSFDS Date: 05/03/16 10:23 Re: Around Cowtown on Sunday Evening Author: ktm-450 Great shots. I like the last shot with the Ferromex unit especially. That line along US-287 seems to be pretty busy, took a trip back from Arlington to Washington state and saw quite a few trains along there. Seems as though there are a lot of nice open shots, would like to go back. Thanks for sharing..
