My Lucky Day: 7 views of the U.P. engine 7777
Author: JoCoLB

While visiting Osawatomie, Kan., at mid-day today, I discovered a crew climbing on the Union Pacific Railroad locomotive No. 7777, which had been parked in the U.P. switch yard. I think it was going to be added later to a northbound U.P. train on the Coffeyville Sub. I didn't stick around for confirmation, however.

Before I left the railroad area, I managed to grab some various photos. Here are seven views you might enjoy.

Photo One shows the lone engine parked in the Osawatomie yard before being moved.

Photo Two shows the engine resting on Track Three. The conductor has left the engine to go pick up some train orders at the nearby U.P. office building.

In Photo Three, the engineer is moving the engine  forward onto Main Two after the conductor has worked the switch.

Photo Four: The engine has been stopped north of the switch to allow the conductor to ride farther north with the engineer for another transfer to Main One.

These last three photos (Nos. 5, 6 & 7) show U.P. 7777 backing down Main One, headed to the yard area where it will apparently meet up with a northbounder.

Sorry I couldn't stick around for the train's departure from Osawatomie while it was headed to Kansas City. Somebody in KC will probably photograph this engine in the KC area during the next 24 hours ...  if they get lucky..
