Western Railroad Discussion > GP60 Leading Today's Chevron LocalDate: 05/03/16 20:29 GP60 Leading Today's Chevron Local Author: GrandeGold A nice looking power set on today's Chevron Local including a freshly painted GP60 teamed with a GP40M-2. The pair made easy work of pulling 42 tank cars through Grant Tower in Salt Lake City.
The same GP60 (SSW 9708 ) pictured 21 years ago pulling SP's KCOAF through Mesa, Utah. Thanks for looking, James Belmont Salt Lake City, UT Edited 1 time(s). From what I could gather via the scanner the crews hated them going up the west slope of Donner (without the Truckee helper) especially in inclement weather. They were pretty slippery.
