Evening shine at Bridgeport, CO
Author: trb

A TO member tipped me off there would be a load coming back from the West Elk mine on UP's North Fork Subdivision this afternoon. I missed it.

But after the load I missed arrived in GJ, an IPPX empty was sent to the mine. The train received a warrant from MP 0.4 to MP 91 on the North Fork subdivision. It used to be rare to hear a train get to go all the way, now it is rare to hear a train meeting another train. I was a couple miles from the turn to Bridgeport so I headed down to one of the trailheads and hiked to a vantage point I have not been to before. Both shots are of the coal empty at Bridgeport, MP 25ish on UP's North Fork sub, south of Grand Junction.

Thanks for looking.

That second one should be IOTD.  I'd like to say both photos suck, but I just can't.  Well worth the drive and the hike.

Have you captured a gtrain in the position of the second shot with morning light?  It looks like the light would be perfect.

Wtih the high cliffs on the east side, it is nearly mid morning before it is all sunlilt.  Been there, done it.  Although I don't make climbs like that.

The tracks are currently Union Pacific's. If you are inquiring about the path that looks like tracks in the first image, those are not tracks, just a two-track road in the hay field.
