A day of getting skunked
Author: nikon1

Today being a holliday, I decided to head to Melvern KS just to see if the BNSF was running anything on the Transcon and hope the railfan gods were being good. So, I pulled into the Railroad park and set upI  at the Railfan platform. I didn't havel long to wait as I heard a horn in the distance. BNSF 4227 rounded the curve eastbound on track one. The line splits here and comes back at Neosho Rapids. After catching 4227 I drove over to the old bridge over the Transcon to set up there in hopes of getting more eastbound trains. Luck was not on my side. The gods were rather cruel after the first and only train. Skunked again at Melvern KS.
Cheers

Charlie it's one of those "you should of been here yesterday". Cliff, Dave and I were there for 3 1/2 hours Saturday morning and saw 18 trains. Then Dave saw another 8 later that day in Emporia.

Charlie, you had my usual luck in Melvern, none!!  Minor nitpick: the line
comes back together at Ridgeton, where my luck has also been less than
stellar.  Wes, you've done much better in Melvern than I ever have!!
