Joliet, IL railfanning
Author: Ntrainfan

I will be driving part of the way across country in late June or early July with an overnight stop in Chicago, at a convenient location off I-80. I have stopped at Joliet in the past for some railfanning, but I have read the station area has changed and is not conducive to railfanning anymore. What is the current situation, and is there an area nearby that is safe and enjoyable for railfanning? i will be by myself, and enjoy BNSF and Amtrak activity. My other option is to change my route slightly and go to the Naperville depot, which I recall being a nice place to stop for a few hours.
Thanks in advance for any tips and information.
