Western Railroad Discussion > Not your Uncle John's Santa FeDate: 06/21/16 12:02 Not your Uncle John's Santa Fe Author: tehachapi-dave During a somewhat lackluster day on the transcon, BNSF decided to help us finish off the day with is impressive train. While sitting at a grade crossing in Willard, NM, we catch a monster eastbound stacker with six units divided up in a 2+2+2 fashion. The train was about 170 cars long and zipped by in excess of 60 MPH, we're guessing right on track speed at 70 MPH. It was quite a show, Enjoy!

Nelson's son Allan married my grandmother and told me many stories of growing up on the Santa Fe. Sadly, Allan passed away a few years ago.
