Not your Uncle John's Santa Fe
Author: tehachapi-dave

During a somewhat lackluster day on the transcon, BNSF decided to help us finish off the day with is impressive train.  While sitting at a grade crossing in Willard, NM, we catch a monster eastbound stacker with six units divided up in a 2+2+2 fashion.  The train was about 170 cars long and zipped by in excess of 60 MPH, we're guessing right on track speed at 70 MPH.  It was quite a show, Enjoy!

Willard, NM is named after Nelson Willard.  Nelson is the son in law of Edward Ripley who was the president of the Santa Fe.  Nelson's son Allan married my grandmother and told me many stories of growing up on the Santa Fe.  Sadly, Allan passed away a few years ago.

What date was this?  Recent or some time ago?  I've been watching for the monsters with 2 sets of DPU, but havn't seen them lately on the Cajon webcam.  It could be they're going by at night.
