Date: 06/28/16 08:20 Re: BNSF Crash Panhandle, TX. Author: howeld Ouch. Yes that doesn't look good one bit. Hope all the crew members made it but it doesn't look promising.
My understanding is PTC is in use on the Herford Sub. Which connects to the Panhandle sub where this accident occurred. Has PTC been put into use here? It would be something interesting if PTC was active and there still was a head on. Posted from iPhone Date: 06/28/16 08:22 Re: BNSF Crash Panhandle, TX. Author: boomer No, we don't have any info on our brothers safety yet.

And the nearest crossovers appear to be about 2 miles east and 6 miles west of the apparent site of the incident. Date: 06/28/16 08:53 Re: BNSF Crash Panhandle, TX. Author: Hookdragkick Dave, it stands for Two Main Tracks.
Just seen the 'Service Interruption' message and decided to go to TO. Z-trains to possibly be rerouted at Vaughn on the Clovis Sub. Posted from Android Date: 06/28/16 08:53 Re: BNSF Crash Panhandle, TX. Author: cnr6776 Daveb Wrote:

Trains can operate in either direction on either track on signal indication. Date: 06/28/16 08:56 Re: BNSF Crash Panhandle, TX. Author: Milw_E70 There is a ~13,000 ft siding off of Main 1 at Panhandle.
Date: 06/28/16 09:07 Re: BNSF Crash Panhandle, TX. Author: sptno I was looking at a video on one of the Amarillo TV stations and someone recorded part of the derailment. Looks like one train with DPU was stopped on one of the tracks, maybe siding, while the other was moving and derailed.
Hopefully there are no injuries or fatalities. Pat South Austin, TX Date: 06/28/16 09:09 Re: BNSF Crash Panhandle, TX. Author: usmc1401 Could be a few detours via Raton.
Date: 06/28/16 09:18 Re: BNSF Crash Panhandle, TX. Author: wko An update on the site said the following:
"10:40 AM NewsChannel 10 has just confirmed at least one victim of this crash has been taken to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo. We do know the patient is in stable condition." Let's hope for more of that! ~wko Date: 06/28/16 09:20 Re: BNSF Crash Panhandle, TX. Author: JoCoLB Is this on the double main Chicago-Los Angeles transcon route? What are possible detour routes?

Author: santafe49 With 2 MT and a siding, at what distance could a crewmember determine the imminent headon collision? Of course, in CTC territory, one would wonder how two trains eneded up on the same track?
