You can hike downhill from the radio tower ( private property) for this shot which is between T11 and  East Serrano

nice ... can someone reiterate for me the reason why the oil cans in SoCal don't need buffers but other crude oil trains do ??? it's been explained before but i can't recall why ...

Nice location, good job.
Yep, the 'Cans' are different but kinda cool. All sorts of goodies, the hoses between the cars, they had self-steering trucks to reduce wear and resistance (not sure what they have now), the whole idea of rapid load and unload, not you're basic tank car.

Nice photos, still need to catch them on the coast one of these days. I'm remember seeing them on Tehachapi and the losing facility in Bakersfield.
