A Sad Day
Author: Ritzville

Can't find it my heart to post pictures today after such a tragic derailment near Pandhandle, TX, a place I know well. My heart goes out to the crews plying the rails and heart felt condolences to the families of the lost crew members on the BNSF. Railroading can be a very dangerous job for which I know. God Bless you all!

Sounds like one of those derailments you don't want to see like how cops and medics hate going to very bad accidents! That sucks, prayers to the family of the train crews!

Please also don't forget the engineer and crew of Sunday's Amtrak #3 who hit a van outside Trinidad. A family with four young daughters was killed with only a four-year old girl surviving. Though not physically hurt in the accident, I know they are coping with what happened and what they could not prevent. Unfortunately and all too often, the news coverage does not include mention of the horror the crew observed. And frequently, we don't hear about first responders and EMT's who have to clear the scene; they too need to remain in our thoughts.

I also echo what Cumbresfan said so well.  That awful head-on
in Texas between two BNSF trains and the Amtrak train hitting
that van are sad beyond words -- and not only for the families
of the people who died, but also for all others involved --first
respondersand EMTs, who may all end up with PTSD because
they cannot permanently keep compartmentalizing the horrors
and carnage they have to see and deal with.

My heart, too, goes out to all of these people, and my deep
condolences go to all of the families who lost members in these
two collisions.

Today is a very, very sad day..

Those of us who are or were rails have lost brothers in this mess.

Not the time for arguing.  Think of the lives snuffed out and the surviving families.

The video is horrific and difficult to watch. I'm sure we're all trying to figure out how something like this could happen, but let's leave that to the NTSB. Today, let's remember our brother and/or sister rails who lost their lives, and pray for their families.

A very sad week on the BNSF. We are praying for God's comfort for all. Also praying for peace and safety - whether operating a train or going to the supermarket. Blessings to all.

Metra also hit a trespasser on the electric district between Wildwood and Riverdale yesterday.
