No. Simply repositioning and reactivating previously stored power for the harvest season, and for the increases in coal and oil.

For gp60:  not even funny.  Why would you make a joke after such a tragic event?  Get a life and try not to make dumb comments.

Very nice catch. Perhaps an indication of good things to come.

About 7 silver engines in this one it appears. Can someone explain the phasing on the BNSF paint schemes? Maybe a dummies guide with photos. The "H" series are all green and orange, correct?

Kind of ironic the 614 is leading many of her less fortunate sisters!

Aren't some of the 600 series being rebuilt?

THERE IS NO H3.

BNSF intentionally stopped using Heritage terminology for the black & orange paint scheme.

21 of the 600s have been rebuilt from DC traction C44-9W to AC traction AC44C4Ms.

Tell the Mechanical Department that.  BNSF uses H3 and even a H4.

H3 = current paint scheme on wide-nose cab locomotives

H4 = current paint scheme on standard-cab locomotives; SD40-2, GP39-3, etc.

Right.  Because from anyone at BNSF, the Mechanical Department really cares about whatever paint is on a locomotive.

Sure.

Like the guys & gals who really run the trains, all they care about is that the locomotives go forward, stop, and reverse.  And that the toilet is not super disgusting.

Obviously you've never seen a locomotive's mechanical record on the Mainframe.  Keeping track of BNSF locomotive paint schemes is outlined in Project DU17 published August 24, 2009.

Cool catch!!

The busy season for RRs starts July 1.  NS has also started to pull units out of the deadlines.

The paint schemes are for the  benefit of the railfans.  next time  there will be no mention of paint schemes

Why not? It's a railfan site.

Typical asinine foamer comment although sadly I heard one company official say the same thing the afternoon following the incident in Texas.

Plenty of foamers work for the railroad... in mechanical departs included, some actualy make decisions (or lack of one) to keep what looks like (paint or what leads etc)..
