Sadly Utah Railway power will no longer be on the point Utah Railway coal trains. Union Pacific power will be used exclusively from now on, although they will be manned by GWRR crews.
Utah Railway locomotives will act as mid-train helpers on these 1-2x's per week trains.

Amazing shot Chris!

No one has heard why Utah is not using it's units on the coal trains. The Utah's engines are not equipped for PTC.

The weird thing is that Utah uses its power for the HUTAHJ that runs from Martin to Provo and back. Currently the HUTAHJ is running one to two times a week and consist of Acid tanks. Before the economy crapped out it was running almost daily and they were handling crude oil that would be interchanged to UP at Provo.

I don't think it's much different than the UP power on the Nebraska Central. It's easier for the UP
to supply head end power and not have to screw with it when the train is interchanged.

Traffic via the Provo sub has been all over the place lately. You can count on 2 to 4 coal trains a day heading to and from Skyline mine, Savage coal loadout, and West Elk Mine. The MNYRO/MRONY run randomly and a pattern is hard to figure out with them. The BNSF runs a daily Denver to Provo train and then a eastbound train Monday through Saturday.

Utah trains that run on the Provo sub:
CUSIPJ runs Mondays (Lately with the helps staying on all the way to Provo). Every so often it will run on a Friday but the helps don't go all the way to Provo on Fridays.
HUTAHJ is the symbol the helps run under and is also the symbol that is used for the Martin to Provo and back train.
RUT611 departs Provo in the evenings and runs to Ogden and then returns over night as the RUT612

Radio Frequency's can be found here for the Provo sub our on my site: http://ucrail.com/guides/subs/provosub.html
I am also building a list of symbols that run in Utah and at the bottom of the page you can find all the Utah symbols and the info that I have been able to gather on them so far: http://ucrail.com/symbols/current.html

Hope that info helps out.
