NS handed off an empty grain train to the IAIS at E. Peoria, IL to be loaded at Heartland COOP in Des Moines, Iowa.
Peoria North  to Bureau Jct. then west to Des Moines.
1-2)  NSPEDM-30 downtown Peoria at 3:10 AM
3) At Chillicothe, IL, at 4:45 some light showing in the sky.

4)  Getting close to sunrise at Henry, IL
5)  Putnam, IL:  time of the year where you can get sun on the nose at sunrise running North.
6)  Bureau Junction a little after 6:00 AM.
Train will turn west toward Silvis where it will wait for later departure.

Whoa, photos from my old stomping grounds. They have done some great track work on it. And the Chili" depot looks good too. Your second photo of the broadside shot of the NS unit in Peoria is awesome. I wonder if the BFGoodrich plant and WRGrace fertilizer plant is still at Henry. We used to switch them on the Peoria local daily. We also switched the Caterpillar plant at Mossville and poccasionally had a carload of paper for the Peoria paper warehouse. I remember many a story at Bureau. In my 4 years there I caught the Blue Island- Peoria peddler freight many times and held a brakemans position on #'s 11/12 the Peoria Rocket for a couple of weeks too.

Well done Bob!  I like that Putnam shot as much as the night stuff in Peoria and Chillicothe.

The plants are Henry are still operational, although I believe under new names.  "The Rocket" - Bureau Switcher (BUSW) works the plants a few times a week.  Ed Brown, an ex-RI man, and #1 in seniority is the hogger on the job.

Thanks to Erik who supplied all the information.  Timing was perfect for the night shots and then early morning sunrise.
It was nice waiting in cool temps watching the sky turn blue.

Weather was very mild I even brought my new old new dog "Rita" along(13 yr rescue).  Name she came with.
Thanks for comments.
