Author: MrMRL

Captured with a long lens last Wednesday morning some 297m (~975 feet) up from the new indoor/outdoor opservation decks on the 69th and 70th floors of the US Bank Tower in Downtown Los Angeles. What an amazing 360° view!

Info on the public observation decks below...

Is this the building with the clear slide on it?

Great view.  Did you get a shot with Mission Tower in it?

Nice shot!  Was up there a couple weeks back. Want to try it again in the winter sun.

Yes, the glass slide is kinda gimmicky, but I still took a trip down it.

I don't think you can quite see CP Mission, from the top of the tower, it's behind a what looks like a parking structure...

Cool pictures.

I am expecting to hear Jack Webb say "This is the city, Los Angeles, CA. . . "

"UCLA was picked from about two dozen sites (which included LATC yard) considered for the Olympic Village"

You can see one end of it just to the left of the "parking structure".

The "parking structure" is LA County Men's Central Jail. Mission is just behind the  northeast corner of the building.  Hope this helps.
Have fun be safe,

Actually the "Men's Central Jail" is the low structure considerably closer to the foreground (just behind Vignes St). The old "Terminal Tower" is directly in front of it. The "Twin Towers Correctional Facility" (also LA County) is to the right of it.

I worked at "The Shops Yard" (LATC) for 12 years.back in the 80's, 90's,  and up until the Remotes knocked me off my job...
I can't believe how "sanitized' the yard looks. The UP pretty much knocked everything down since I was there last in 2008. No more Coast warehouses over by the Coach Yard...no more Shops Yardmaster's Tower...no more Carmen's shanty...no more Switchman's shanty...GONE...ALL GONE!!!
The only thing recognizable is the historic, turn of the century, Edison Electric plant next to the westbound Yuma Mainline. And  I'm sure, it would have been "removed" had it been located on railroad property...
Very sad...

You're right, I stand corrected. What IS the taller building that's actually obscuring the view of Mission Tower?  I couldn't find a name for it on either Google Earth or Google Maps.  Thanks in advance for any info.
Have fun, be safe,
Bruce "Doc" Jones  Sierra Madre CA.
ps - just answered my own question. It's a BIG parking structure. looks like it's associated with the whole complex.

Judging from the Google Street View, it looks like it is a Sheriff's parking structure.
