Western Railroad Discussion > A trio from this morningDate: 07/24/16 17:20 A trio from this morning Author: oyw The Sunday morning trip to Cajon was less than stellar but with clear skies and Amtrak's Southwest Chief running late, I figured it was worth a shot and ended up seeing a couple of decent trains.
1) I arrived at Keenbrook just before 7AM to wait for #3 but first up was BNSF 7944 on a hot westbound Z-train. 2) About 10 minutes later #3 showed up with the usual ten cars and two units. Looks like leader 129 may have hit an animal en route. 3) While waiting at Cajon, the eastbound UP 'North Platte" came into view with a very ordinary head-end consist but lately I've learned to always wait to see what's on the DP. Today it was brand new SD70AH 9042 bringing up the rear, so I ended the morning with a going-away shot up by the Mormon Rocks. Thanks for taking the time to look.
