Fire in Eastern Washington
Author: funnelfan

So far eastern Washington had been lucky compared to last year, with no large fires. That lucky streak ended today. Big wind driven fire started this morning near Irby, WA This likely could affect the BNSF's Columbia River sub between Odessa and Wilson Creek, WA. Parallel Hwy28 is already closed and people in the area are being evacuated.

I saw all that from the house. Hope they have it under control.

After starting four small grass fires near Hilt, CA, the CORP has added a water spraying tank car behind the power on their Weed, CA to Medford, OR trains.  Car was coming anyway, just didn't arrive in time.  A second tank car is coming which will eliminate the awkward exchange at Hornbrook, CA.  Fortunately the fires were extinguished quickly keeping the largest at 23 acres.  The area is quite dry and with temps reaching the 105-106 range, it is going to stay very delicate.

Looks like the luck ran out east of Yakima for the area south west of you looks to be a monster out by the firing range.
