BN's "Pacific Pride" No More?
Author: bnsfsd70

On July 29th, I stopped by BNSF's Topeka, KS depot and found the BNSF 2075 sitting outside, freshly outshopped and waiting to be picked up by the local.  This unit is notable as it was BN's "Pacific Pride," a harbinger of the upcoming Heritage movement, with logos of BN's predecessors adorning its sides.  Many of the engines that get outshopped get routed to Mid-America Car or RELCO for new paint, so this one may not be long for this world.  Unfortunately, I showed up about 10 minutes after the sun set, but I'll take what I can get in this situation.

Thanks for any info you may have,
- Jeff Carlson

Looks like it received new (rebuilt) trucks. Have no idea of its future paint wise, however even without a repaint looks like the pride part of the loco is slowly fading away. One way or the other, unfortunately, it is disappearing.

BNSF 2075 going to MAC for paint....would be nice to see it come out in something unique, but probably doubtful.  BNSF 1994 also to MAC for paint.

Got it, thanks for the confirmation on this one.  The railfan in me would love to see an updated version of the "Pac Pride" scheme, but I'm quite certain that's nothing but a pipe dream.

Regarding that BNSF 1994, here's a shot I got of it coupled up to the 2075 in Topeka.  Again, sorry about the pole, I left my Pole Filter at home.

This unit was ordered by the SP&S as the SP&S 205 and was delivered as the BN 2075 in February 1970.  It was one of 6, delivered as the first new BN locomotives.

Oh yeah, I remember that whole thing now.  Thanks for the reminder on this!

Isn't 2075 missing some heralds?  Like GN, NP and SP&S?

Fallen flags, as in fallen off the locomotive. :-(

From looking at the picture, it's pretty clear that hood section was either replaced or at least repainted -- the greens don't match.

Notice also the new-ish warning stickers, including one plastered over part of the Burlington Route herald.

This loco cries out to be repainted. If the special markings go away when that happens, oh well. Eventually the more elaborae "heritage" painted locomotives on UP and NS are going to get repainted or retired, too. (UP's "C&NW" engine is particularly in need of a touch up, at least.)

That's correct!  Here's a shot I got of it on Thursday evening outside of MAC in KC, showing the remnants of each of the logos originally applied to it.
