Denver-area cabeese, a dome, and other random pics
Author: casco17

A few rail-related pictures from the Denver area, from July 2016:
1. Former RI boxcars in the UP yard
2. BN 12277 shoving platform (caboose) - note the BN logo repainted over the graffiti.  This was along the old CB&Q main
3. BN 12312 shoving platform (caboose).  This was on a local spur

last batch
7. Old C&S boxcar 1204 with Everywhere West (barely visible) - didn't realize C&S cars used this slogan too back in the day
8. C&S caboose 01523 - still looks like a "full caboose" - but what's with those paint colors
9. Colorado route 2 - traffic light controlled xing.  There are other traffic light controlled xings around there; didn't realize the train crew would have a light also

The blue caboose is former D&RGW from the looks of her.  From the last order of cabooses the Rio Grande bought, in fact the next to the last one.  That is one wild paint scheme, one I would expect in Mexico.

The BN logo repaint is cool for the fact that the company or former BN union heads even bothered. There are plenty of former employees who reminisce about their roots. The 2nd cab graff-piece is pretty cool.

That's quite a collection. You even got a Navy boxcar in pic #6. That BN repaint is really neat too.

Cheap way across a 'busy' street, no gates to install and maintain. You often see this setup with urban street running, especially in conjunction with a light-rail crossing.

The dome car and stuff is owned by the Denver Rock Island I believe. There is a GN combine in the area. I have pictures from last year.

BNSF started a no riding cars campaign in Denver.  The cabooses have shown up for long shoves cause they are acceptable to ride.
