Western Railroad Discussion > East to Los Angeles

Caught the UP's ZMNLA readying for departure at the east end of the Marion, AR ramp on Saturday 8/27.  Train normally leaves around 7pm, but it was running at least 30 minutes late, making photography challenging.  This westbound train leaves Marion eastbound, then connects with the BNSF West Memphis branch southward to reconnect with home rails at West Memphis, AR (ex CRIP/SP Brinkley Sub) where it turns west.  

1.  Power waiting for road crew.  Too bad they had that ratty flag unit in the lead.  Is it too much to remove the flag when it gets that bad?   Yard switcher GATX 2172 idles on parallel lead.

2.  Sun is setting, crew not quite onboard yet.

3.  Sun departed before the train
