With the ports of LA and LGB accounting for 40 percent of imports into the USA stated below are the thru pits for August 20`16

Port Los Angeles 

789,932 total teus increase of 1.3% over Aug 2015
411,366 loaded import teus increase of 0.9% over AUG 2015
153,005 loaded exports increase 0f 6.3% over AUG 2015
234,561 empties increase of 0.2% over AUG 2015

5.62million teus ytd 2016 a 4.35% increase over ytd 2015

Port of Long Beach
641,029 total teus 8.95% decrease from AUG 21015
321,625 total import loads decrease of 10.2% from AUG 2015
159,247 loaded exports increase of 14.8% from AUG 2015
160,157 empty teus decrease of 22.5% from AUG 2015

6.4 million teus ytd 2016 decrease of 0.9% vs ytd 2015

Down only 1% YTD but down 9% for August. Should be obvious that Hanjin is their chief problem.
