Western Railroad Discussion > Pacing a Stack Train at Dry Creek TrestleDate: 09/25/16 23:16 Pacing a Stack Train at Dry Creek Trestle Author: RyanWilkerson Last July, my sons and I helped a fellow railfan get his truck out of the soft dirt near the Dry Creek Trestle. This is near Hotlum (mp 352), which is 30 miles north of Dunsmuir, CA.
After we accomplished that task, we saw a northbound train on ATCS and then heard it pass a detector so we got in position to see it. With only a few moments to spare, we gave chase with our eye in the sky. The train is the C section of the ZLCBR and has domestic 53' stacks up front followed by 40' international containers with leader UP 8756. Enjoy! Ryan Wilkerson Fair Oaks, CA Edited 1 time(s). The DJI Phantom has an excellent gimbal that stabilizes and keeps everything level. Being in an open area allows for contact with 10+ GPS satellites, which will keep it in a certain location even if it has to fight wind to stay put. I believe that day was fairly calm. I have a few train videos from the other side of the bridge. Lots of raw video to go through!
