Western Railroad Discussion > Military Train over Tehachapi 9/24Date: 09/27/16 09:02 Military Train over Tehachapi 9/24 Author: SCUfoamer I always start my days on Tehachapi by rolling down Truxtun Ave in Bakersfield. It lets you see the day's line up and gives you a chance to roll up edison in hopes of catching something East/South bound. As I was passing the Amtrak station I noticed something interesting heading east. I got a chance to catch the military train with almost 200 armored vehicles. They seemed used and abused (Probably home from Iraq), so I am guessing that they are headed for storage somethere.
The train left Bakersfield at 11:15am. Made it to Bena at noon and sat until the work window ended. I got the train at Bealville around sunset. The Bakersfield crew died on the clock before the train even made the loop. 1. Approaching Sandcut - 11:45am 2. Getting a red at Bena - The work window has begun - Noon 3. Finally getting a yellow at Bealville to move east. (There were two North/West bound doubled up on the Bealville siding when the train finally got the clear) 6:30pm Date: 09/27/16 17:20 Re: Military Train over Tehachapi 9/24 Author: grafvonb49 If these vehicles were returning from the middle east, then transported by BNSF, where were they disembarked on the West Coast? Seattle/Tacoma?
Destination in CONUS? TX? Nice shots, and bless our troops! Grafvonb49 Date: 09/27/16 17:40 Re: Military Train over Tehachapi 9/24 Author: Hookdragkick Many that run the West coast interchange with UP with a destination of YERMO.

Big heavy beasts with a fairly high center of gravity. They'll protect you from an IED while beating you to death from their bumpy ride. Date: 09/27/16 19:36 Re: Military Train over Tehachapi 9/24 Author: SCUfoamer Coach,
I agree. Thouse super zoom shots just aren't the same. It will forever be missed Date: 09/27/16 20:08 Re: Military Train over Tehachapi 9/24 Author: cchan006 I got a sneak preview of your shots on your SLR's LCD screen... nice picks!
