Western Railroad Discussion > Phillips 66 appeals denial of CA oil by rail projectDate: 10/21/16 03:42 Phillips 66 appeals denial of CA oil by rail project Author: bradleymckay The refinery is in San Luis Obispo County just north of Guadalupe, along the ex-SP Coast Line.
Besides what is being piped to the refinery P66 is currently having oil trucked (to the refinery) from 4 different locations, for a variety of reasons: http://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/local/article109416142.html Allen Date: 10/21/16 11:28 Re: Phillips 66 appeals denial of CA oil by rail project Author: KB6GZ At what point will Phillips get tired of this and just close the plant completely. The county will lose the jobs and taxes, and probably have to look at a rusting eye sore for years.

The Phillips 66 plant is just another thing they want gone. SLO county only wants tourists and college kids they could care less about jobs in the area.

In fact there is a new small diameter pipeline carrying oil from the Price Canyon oil fields (near Pismo Beach) to the refinery, AND the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission approved the re-piping of a pipeline that brings in oil from an off shore oil platform. Problem is it's all not enough oil for the refinery, hence their desire to bring in oil, of any type other than Bakken oil, by rail. Believe me P66 has a "Plan B" and a "Plan C". Problem is both are more expensive than "Plan A". Allen Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 10/21/16 22:27 by bradleymckay. The P66 opposition ppl are mostly old ppl who are afraid of everything. Especially if they hear the word Oil. They coud care less about someone elses job. Date: 10/22/16 09:55 Re: Phillips 66 appeals denial of CA oil by rail project Author: PHall pdt Wrote:

I highly doubt that P-66 will close the plant. There are other options, and one of them that I know of will work jjust fine without much , if any, more cost. V SLOCONDR |
