V is for Victory
Author: GBW309

After a nearly two year hiatus trackside, I was able to spend the entire day tuesday, watching and photographing trains, along the Mississippi river in Wisconsin.  BNSF did a fine job providing the entertainment and the fall colors have to be either at or near peak in this part of the country.  The first image was taken just north of Lock and Dam #9, south of Lynxville, WI.  The second image is an eastbound oil train rounding the curve at Victory, WI.  This area of the state was hit with heavy rain storms three times in less than a month. Each storm dumped 6-10 inches of rain and caused major damage and flooding to the region.  Just to the right of where I was standing, a large mudslide destroyed a home on the hillside, killing the owner and closing both the highway and railroad for a period of time.

Enjoy the fall season!
