TXUX coal train question
Author: mkerner

Took my 30 minute break in Tenaha, TX on the UP Lufkin sub today. A TXUX mty with a mix of KCS,BNSF, and CP engines came off the Timber Rock railroad and went north on the Lufkin sub. Whose train did I actually see?

I have a feeling that you saw the Luminant Power (fomerly Texas Utilities), Martin Lake power plant that is located just to the south of Longview and east of Tyler, TX. The limestone, used as scrubbers to clean the stacks of carbon, is quarried from Clifton, TX and is hauled by unit train to the plant. Does anyone know how the loads get to the plant? I think they are routed through Lousiana.

KCS has traditionally had the TXUX coal loads going south out of Kansas City to Texas.  I havn't seen any TXUX train sets on the UP here in Oklahoma.
