Western Railroad Discussion > UP's new SD70ACe-T4 #3013Date: 12/02/16 07:52 UP's new SD70ACe-T4 #3013 Author: KDC There is a picture/video clip of UP 3013 (new SD70ACe-T4) down in Mexico somewhere, does this mean the bulk of the UP SD70ACe-T4 order will be built by Bombardier in Mexico?

Don't know if its a matter of economics, cheaper to assemble in Mexico, or the fact that Muncie cannot build larger orders there, or a matter of both? Hope to see some photos posted soon.

Does that put EMD in violation of the Tier 4 credit rule (the one that says a builder must have an equal or greater number of proper Tier 4 units in a given year than Tier 4 credit units)? They've already delivered 65 credit units to UP; can they get all of the T4s out in time?

The order will be built at both Bombardier in Mexico and ProgressRail in Muncie. It was not more specific than that.
