A red and white Herzog ballast train rolls along the blue Pacific Ocean at Sudden yesterday afternoon.

Sudden, in case you were wondering, is named after a sea captain who bought a ranch there in the late 19th century. The captain planned to raise Clydesdale horses there, but the invention of the automobile killed demand for the creatures. He switched to sheep and cattle instead.
