Western Railroad Discussion > Couple of Short Lines . . .

1.    SQVR Sequatchie Valley RR in Bridgeport AL had their power tied down for the weekend. A nice IC caboose for a shoveing platform and looks like the latest acquisitions were from a UP auction.  
It was difficult to get any good or close up roster shots due to the CSX double track main and of course plenty of no trespassing signs.  Sequatchie Valley RR runs north out of Bridgeport only about 10 miles but serves several large industries on the former NC&StL L&N branch.  Seems odd the lines that the majors give up just so they don't have to deal with switching solutions.
2.     Road unit as well as end cab switchers on the property
3.     An older switcher no longer in use
4.     Caney Fork & Western RR runs from Sparta TN to a CSX connection at Tullahoma TN and is a subsidiary of Ironhorse Resources. This was also a weekend visit so there wasn't much activity.  I did notice they do a great job of keeping the units I saw in the same paint scheme
5.     #104-105 beside the engine house at McMinnville TN, #104 with a Mississippi Tennessee RR logo.  #103 was around back freshly painted and not lettered yet.
6.     Rough looking CFW caboose. Inside were several tables and benches like they perhaps use it for excursion or special event runs.

Nice look at two shortlines in Alabama and TN. It's always fun to see the older equipment.
