Status of BNSF GP60 #193 in Perris, CA?
Author: PasadenaSub

Every weekday morning and afternoon for the past month alongside SR 215, I drive past BNSF GP60 193 with a munched cab and front - sitting in a spur off the San Jacinto line in Perris just north of Nuevo Road.  TO Member Wigwag posted the initial pictures of it on November 1:

The unit has since been moved just to the south of the location in the pictures.

With the shortage of 4-axle units on the system, I would think they would want to get this one in for repairs.  Is it a case of damage so bad per FRA regulations that it can't be brought back to San Bernardino/Kaiser or Commerce for work and a mobile crew will have to do the work on-site when they get a chance?

Thanks for any info,

Rich

Every time I pass by it, seems like its getting a new layer of paint compliments of the local vandals. Not sure what the hold up is on this.

Just a guess here - but could it be held until a court case is resolved?

They could move it behind a fence at OERM "Orange Empire Railway Museum". It would be good PR for the Museum to help BNSF.

The fact that it hasn't moved may mean that it's not movable and may require the services of a heavy duty flat car to be moved to the shop.

I think FRA says they have to put temp. ladder and handrails before moving it.

Okay, 2 hour job, no problem. So there must be something else blocking the move then.
