Bonita, you are so beautiful.

Made a pilgrimage today to Bonita Jct. on a lunch break from laying track at a 1.5" scale railroad project.. First pic is SP's Shreveport Sub (the Rabbit) to the right and SP's Jacksonville Sub to the left. 2nd pic shot of the switch, 3rd.close up of the derail, last pic looking NW towards Jacksonville.

Tie plates stamped 1928.

About 1/2 mile NW on the J'Ville Sub track (ahead in last photo) is a soft drink bottling company that has rail service. Past that there is no rail anymore

.
I should add this is Nacogdoches TX

I bet that is a 5 mph thrilling ride to the soft drink company.

Interesting shots.   You don't see many pictures of the Rabbit Line.  Looks like you had to take a walk in the woods,

To my eye, the long ties under the derail look odd, very smooth, with rounded edges.  Are they some sort of composite material?

Yes, at first I thought they were concrete, but after scratching it with a knife I discovered they were made of something else,
not sure exactly but something composite is a good description not knowing more specific info.
