Blizzard at Lower Cascade
Author: JamesSchlinger

UP 600 heads east with a flanger on main 1 at Lower Cascade bridge. I've been in some cold weather on Donner, but at this location there is virtually no shelter (aka trees) to get protection from the wind, so it was easily the nastiest weather I have endured up there. But as storms go, it was nothing compared to what is hitting them as I type this...

I think if I had successfully gotten this shot and survived the trip I would probably want to spend the next few winters somewhere along the Sunset route.

James,

A spectacular shot of "The Hill" as many of us remember it from heavy winters in the past! Thanks so much for sharing, and for going to the effort to get this wonderful photo!

Best wishes, and be careful out in these storms...

Just where is Upper Cascade?  Maps and TO search provide no clue.

The Upper Cascade Bridge is at

https://www.google.com/maps/@39.3123159,-120.4342489,237m/data=!3m1!1e3

but this is the Lower Cascade Bridge, isn't it?
(Or Lower Cascade Bridges, better.)

Yep! That's what I get for going from memory and not my notes, which confirm that you are correct!
