Western Railroad Discussion > Auburn TrackworkDate: 01/20/17 10:59 Auburn Trackwork Author: Auburn_Ed Main 2 is complete, the switch removed yesterday. Main 1 is in, with new switch to Cenex, and awaits alaignment and ballast finishing. Here a freight heads north on Main 3. Just for illustration purposes, I am showing a diverging clear over Main 2 (a situation I have seen recently). Of course there is a train on Main 1, but if there wasn't, how does an engineer know which way he is diverging? The fuzzy focus around the outside of the photo is due to shooting with my point and shoot through holes punched in steel plate on the pedestrian overpass. I am also wondering, what is the maximum speed through these crossovers?

Doesn't - leading to potentially hazardous situations if there is a Form B or slow on one of the tracks and either route is possible. The engineer must be prepared in case the route is the restricted track. ~~ ~~ I am also wondering, what is the > maximum speed through these crossovers? 50 mph TAW Date: 01/20/17 12:13 Re: Auburn Trackwork Author: Pinlifter >how does an engineer know which way he is diverging?
With PTC he would. It shows on the screen which track he's diverging onto. Date: 01/20/17 17:56 Re: Auburn Trackwork Author: rag Was wondering, how did that clear (green aspect) get put were normally the stop (red aspect) belongs? Something fishy here. Also all switches seemed to be lined for straight track.
