Jordan spreader in truckee cam now.
Author: czuleget

Jordan spreader was just on the truckee cam going east on the balloon track, shoud be back on cam in a minute or two.

then again maybe not I don't know how far the Jordan spreader would go east on the line it would have to go I think all the way to Sparks right if they continued east turn the train.
There is a train coming right now 10:02 eastbound

I have been watching the web cam too and monitoring the ATCS.
Screen Capture 1 shows the consist with spreaders on both ends and all lights blazing.
Just missed # 5 which departed Truckee almost 12 hours late.

Screen Capture 2 shows #6's making its second second stop in Truckee about six hours late Truckee around 10:30.
This capture includes the concurrent ATCS Monitor display. The late Zephyrs and Spreaders have made it a busy night on the Hill.

I can imagine the Zephyrs passed in the cold snow muffled darkness of Coldstream Canyon.

Still learning about the ATCS Monitor program, but I believe these represent occupied control point blocks or trains.

Red is train. Green is the train line up. Blue is maintenance or hi-railer on track.

My interpretation:
Eastbound approaching Shed 47 is lined as far as W. Truckee.
The wbd. at Truckee should shortly get a line up thru W. Truckee, then thru Shed 47 when the ebd. clears.  The DS already has him lined up thru E. Norden.  The ebd. waiting at E. Norden will be followed by the ebd. approaching Switch 9.  Once the wbd. passes, they will probably be turned loose to go east.

Edit: I should add, if you check with "Amtrak Julie", you'll know when Amtrak #5 and #6 are due.  Scanner radio chatter will add more info.  Ralph James at Blue Canon and others on CalRailfan and HeadsUpNorCal report train sightings.  If you have someone monitoring the Truckee and Alta webcams and texting you, you'll know what order the trains are in and what time they passed those points.  Then you can pick which trains suit your tastes and the lighting and go after them.  As people have said, this is much easier in summer than winter!  ATCS will give you the latest on who is lined up next, if you have time for a food break, etc.

When I clicked on the Truckee webcam (the lens was snowed over), my Avast software =14pxWARNED ME THAT IT BLOCKED A TROJAN TYPE INFECTION.  I didn't get any warning yesterday when I looked at that webcam.

Edit #2: I've been advised that someone else tried the Truckee webcam with Webroot anti-virus software and didn't have a problem.

Covered in snow right now. They usually clean it off later in the morning.

I run an audio feed from Truckee, making a nice addition to the webcam and atcs.

How did you get the ATCS

I learned about ATCS here on Train Orders about two months ago.
Look up "ATCS Monitor" on YouTube.

Joining the Yahoo Group devoted to this is a key start.

There are several intro videos on what is involved.
I think if you have the skills to setup a home wifi system you can do this.
