Slightly Different Coal Train on BNSF Ottumwa Sub
Author: Agent

Seeing years of coal loads here with orange engines arranged 2x1, anything outside of that norm is immediately apparent.  Today I caught a BNSF coal train with three units on the head end instead of two.  This is only the second time I've caught a coal load with three units up front.

1-2) BNSF 5800 leads its UCEX coal train eastward through Agency, Iowa.

3) AC4400CW BNSF 5657 feels like a rare sight in comparison to all the Gevos and ACes that come through here.

4) BNSF 5887 was the third engine in the trio.

5-6) BNSF 5777 was the DPU.

Same for me when I see a coal train arranged different than 4x2 or 3x3 in NM.

Nice shots! Based on the first picture, it looks like 5657 may be just along for the ride.
