Only thing mentioned on the Eastern Board is that it is headed back west. Nothing about why. Nothing about which cars are included. Nothing about who may be on board once it reaches California. Oh, and uh by the way, this happens to be the Western Board. Pretty arragont of you to expect some one to be viewing the Eastern Board for information about a train headed to California. However, the questions asked by CPRR and which I would also like the answer were indeed NOT answered by reading the posts that were indicated on the Eastern Board. So the post by gmojim provided no information about a train coming to Calfornia and you are defending his post of non-information. Way to go. CS Date: 02/22/17 14:44 Re: UP special to LB Author: EspeeGoldenState Well if you indeed did read the one thread you would have seen this information:

No where does it explain or state that the train and those on it will now go to California to continue on. As far as we know, it is done in the South East US and is now going to California for a different purpose. Date: 02/22/17 15:06 Re: UP special to LB Author: KB5WK jst3751 Wrote:

What difference does it make why the reason they are coming and going. Since you are asking all the questions. How about answering a few questions. Why do you need to know the purpose? Why do you need to know the amount of cars in the consist? Date: 02/22/17 15:12 Re: UP special to LB Author: Lackawanna484 Thanks for continuing to post info on this train.
NS KCS UP talking about working together and then operating an office car special certainly is an interesting development. FWIW, ending in Atlanta places the train in about the geographical center of a lot of auto assembly plants. BMW and Mercedes in South Carolina, Mercedes (and AirBus) in Alabama, Nissan VW and Toyota in Tennessee, etc. Date: 02/22/17 16:15 Re: UP special to LB Author: SPMemphisFreight Looks like the train arrived in Dallas, visible on the Dealey Plaza Cam now.
Date: 02/22/17 16:41 Re: UP special to LB Author: florida581 The train was reported by Mesquite, TX at 17:42.
From what I told, the train was deadheaded to Atlanta (no one aboard the special). The NS, UP, KCS officials boarded the train in Atlanta for the trip west. As mentioned above, the three railroads are all involved in a joint effort to haul transcontinental freight. I was told that this trip was an inspection (of some sorts) of this route and the possible discussion of further infrastructure and traffic improvements. The current transcontinental trains along this route are as follows: UP ZAILC <-- NS 225 UP ZLCAI and ZLCAIB --> NS 226 UP KLBNS and KLCAI --> NS 22G UP ILXNS --> NS 22Z UP KAILC <-- NS 23D All the UP trains are out of the Southern California terminals and all the NS trains are out of Atlanta. KCS is the middle man for these trains between Shreveport and Meridian. Andrew Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/22/17 16:43 by florida581. He cannot read the post that I forwarded which has all the info except the number of cars on the train.
