Western Railroad Discussion > The Snow Has Returned On The BNSF

Snow started falling after midnight and continued all morning and into the afternoon in Ritzville, WA on the BNSF Lakeside Sub. The high-low was 38/30 with over an inch of snow. I don't think the snow will be around too long with higher temperatures. Traffic has been fairly steady with a couple of lulls. Only took covered patio and back door shots, still fighting the bug. Here are todays catches.

1. A quick grab shot of WB 718am #27 Empire Builder with Amtk 155 on the point with snow flying. Just woke up and heard that familar whistle and quickly grabed the camera for a very quick grab, lol.
2. EB 1037am grain train with BNSF 6127-6138 on the pull with DPU in snowfall.
3 DPU BNSF 6062 in same train.

4. WB 1051am grain train with BNSF 4953-8142 on the point with DPU's in heavy snowfall.
5. DPU's BNSF 4150-3865 on same train.
6. WB 140pm grain train with BNSF 4910-6745 on the pull with DPU.

7. DPU Warbonnet 754 on same train.
8. DPU BNSF 6161 on EB 201pm grain train.
9. EB 213pm grain train with BNSF 4858-H1 973 on the point with DPU.

11. EB 328pm "Z" train with BNSF 7092 and KCS 4584 pull with DPU's.
12. DPU's BNSF 6827 and NS 7290 on same "Z".

  Looks like the grain harvest is still in full swing!!

13. EB 339pm auto train with BNSF 6827-7631-4861 on the point, no DPU.
14. EB 351pm garbage/manifest train with BNSF 3832 on the very point along with CSX 3388 and green BN 1407 in the head-end mix.

16. WB 412pm grain train with BNSF 6997-5030 on the pull with DPU's in a heavy snow flurry.
17. DPU's BNSF 6828-7566 on same train.
18. EB 440pm grain train with CREX 1308 and BNSF 5318 on the point with DPU. grain is definately on the move.

Still another great day of variety but sorry to hear the snow came back, we only got a bit of rain in the morning.

Great shots Larry, particularly the "grab" of the "Builder!" It is a blizzard here in Salt Lake City this morning... Stay warm & dry and be careful when you have to go out in the snow...
