Western Railroad Discussion > BNSF/LTEX GP30's for GP39-3 Rebuild ProgramDate: 02/27/17 04:43 BNSF/LTEX GP30's for GP39-3 Rebuild Program Author: Rainier_Rails Couple of questions:
1) Does anybody have a list of the nee-AT&SF GP30's that BNSF recently bought back from Larry's Truck & Electric (LTEX) for their GP39-3 rebuild program? 2) If so, have any of the new GP39-3 #25xx/#26xx-series numbers been assigned to these GP30's? I know that for at least a few of the nee-AT&SF GP35's that were rebuilt, the new #25xx/#26xx-series numbers were applied before the actual rebuilds using GN reporting marks. 3) Does anybody have a list of the heritages for GP39-3's #2585-#2589 and #2591-#2593? I have the heritage for #2590, which is a nee-AT&SF GP30, specifically ex-BNSF GP30u #2432, exx-AT&SF #2732, exxx-GP30 #3232, nee-#1232. Both the #2590 and #2591 (which is also a rebuilt GP30) are currently sitting in storage in Balmer Yard here in Seattle, between the roundhouse and the fueling racks, along with GP38X #2171 (ex-BN, exx-Conrail GP38 #7845, nee-PC), GN-stenciled SW1200 #3534 (ex-BNSF, exx-BN #193, nee-NP #134), GN-stenciled SD9 #1732 (ex-BNSF, exx-#6132, exxx-BN #6236, exxxx-C&S, nee-#841), and GP38u #2236 (ex-AT&SF #2346, nee-GP38 #3546). Stored nearby are GN-stenciled SD9's #1729 (ex-BNSF, exx-#6110, exxx-BN, nee-GN #583) and #1730 (ex-BNSF, exx-#6125, exxx-BN, nee-GN #598). Oh, and if anyone is using RR Picture Archives to check the histories of these GP39-3's, there are currently several errors. The confusion stems from the fact that BNSF used the #25xx/#26xx-series, previously occupied by the now mostly retired/stored or rebuilt nee-AT&SF GP35's for the GP39-3's, a number of which are these ex-GP35's, but upon rebuild the engines were given new numbers in the same range. Date: 02/27/17 19:41 Re: BNSF/LTEX GP30's for GP39-3 Rebuild Program Author: Rainier_Rails I answered one of my questions:
This was a trade between BNSF and LTEX: GP38's (26) for GP30's (24). GP38's: #2160, #2161, #2162, #2164, #2166, #2167, #2168, #2171, #2177, #2189, #2190, #2192, #2195, #2199, #2201, #2209, #2214, #2215, #2216, #2217, #2219, #2221, #2224, #2231, #2234, and #2248. 10 of these are ex-Conrail, nee-PC GP38X's (up through #2189), including the #2171 which I reported as being stored in Balmer Yard. The other 16 (#2190 and above) are nee-AT&SF GP38u's. Interestingly, the other GP38 which I reported as stored in Balmer Yard, nee-AT&SF GP38u #2236, is not among those being traded to LTEX. Nee-AT&SF GP30u's: #2403, #2406, #2407, #2416, #2417, #2419, #2423, #2424, #2429, #2431, #2440, #2447, #2450, #2453, #2455, #2461, #2462, #2466, #2469, #2471, #2472, #2474, #2475, and #2477. erikalco251 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think one of the GP30s that LTEX got some years ago is x TP&W 700 Thanks, Erik! TP&W #700 is not among those reacquired from LTEX. It became AT&SF #3385, then was rebuilt in July 1984 as GP30u #2785 (2nd), to BNSF #2458, to LTEX. Edited 1 time(s). May I inquire as to where this info is available? LocoNotes Yahoo group? (I know it's not on Charles Biel's Trainpix website or the Diesel Shop.) Date: 02/28/17 13:37 Re: BNSF/LTEX GP30's for GP39-3 Rebuild Program Author: MP555 Rainier_Rails Wrote:

But LocoNotes is a good place to find it when it shows up! Date: 02/28/17 19:45 Re: BNSF/LTEX GP30's for GP39-3 Rebuild Program Author: WLE2679 Did the locomotives already move from LTEX?
