Restaurants/deli's facing BNSF Transcon ROW?
Author: ShoreLineRoute

Hi all,

I'm planning a driving trip to visit relatives in Albuquerque NM from California.  Might anyone have suggestions on restaurants or delicatessens with a view of BNSF's Transcon, between Barstow CA and Grants NM?

Thanks!

I can see the Historic El Rancho Hotel & Motel in Gallup, NM from the tracks. I hope somebody can confirm their Restaurant and Bar can see the opposite.

Here's one of a few in Flagstaff http://www.lumberyardbrewingcompany.com/  100 feet from Transcon.  When weather is nice you can sit out side enjoying good food, cold beer and the endless parade of BNSF trains.

Yes,  good Mexican place right across the street from the depot.

Try the Turquoise Room at the La Posada hotel in Winslow.  A former Fred Harvey property, the window tables overlook the transcon.

Flagstaff:

I've been to Altitudes Bar and Grill in Flagstaff off Beavers St and Rte 66. It faces the tracks and Amtrak Depot.

Collins Irish Pub and Grill is North of the Amtrak Depot at N Leroux and Rte 66. Might be able to see the tracks at an angle if you sit at corner of building.

The McMillan Bar and Kitchen is across the street from Collins.

There are more on Route 66 east of downtown Flag.

Starting in Barstow, there's Barstow Station, with McDonald's and Panda Express.  Next door is Mega Tom's Burgers.  The quality is in the view of BNSF plus UP's traffic headed for Las Vegas and Salt Lake.

As soon as you cross the Colorado River into Arizona, exit and go under the BNSF tracks to Topock66 with a view of the Colorado River and BNSF's bridge over it.  You're 3/4 surrounded by tracks (surround sound!), great patio view!  They've got steak, ribs, burgers and gollywobblers.

In Seligman, I like homey Westside Lilo's.  It's got outdoor picnic tables if the weather is good.  The only thing fancy is the Transcon view.

I second Lumber Yard Brewing in Flagstaff.  You'll only get closer to the trains at Barstow.
