Update on SP 1006 at OERM (SCRM) 3/12/17
Author: TomPlatten

We are positioning parts  in our carbarn for the purpose of reassembling the trucks for SP 1006. All appropriate parts have been cleaned and painted as needed. Our project leader, Dave, has decided to turn, again, to the TO community to see if there might be a RIVETED air tank for our locomotive which could be acquired. Our original air tank had a large dent in the side from the days the locomotive was used in a scrap yard. We have a welded tank to use if we cannot find one, but would prefer to restore the locomotive to as original as possible. Riveted tanks are not useable on locomotives in interchange service but can be used on museum locomotives subject to annual hydro testing!

My buddy tells me the Indiana RR museum acquired a parts SW-1 for its trucks. Catastrophic engine failure. Maybe you get lucky?

I have a question about using a rivited pressurized air tank. Does they have a expiration date or a date when a re-certification is required?
